typescript - This condition will always return 'true' since the types '"autocomplete"' and '"manual"' have no overlap error In Angular

Question

This is the condition I am using [class.active]="fromMode != 'manual'" and the formMode is been intialize with manual value like this fromMode = "manual"; . It give the error when I add this line

  this.fromMode =
          this.searchHistory[0].inputStrings.fromMode != undefined
            ? this.searchHistory[0].inputStrings.fromMode
            : 'manual'; 

Not understanding what is problem here
