macos - Installing Homebrew on OS X

Question

According to the Homebrew site, to install it, I need to type:

brew install wget

I get an error message:

-bash: brew: command not found

Found this answer. The problem, however, is I don't see brew in /usr/local/bin.

I added the below line to my .bashrc file

export PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH

Still getting the command not found error.

How do I install Homebrew on OS X?

It's on the top of the Homebrew homepage.

From a Terminal prompt:

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install.sh)"

The command brew install wget is an example of how to use Homebrew to install another application (in this case, wget) after brew is already installed.
