javascript - jQuery: exclude children from .text()

A micro-plugin:

$.fn.ignore = function(sel){
  return this.clone().find(sel||">*").remove().end();
};

...having this HTML:

<div id="test"><b>Hello</b><span> World</span>!!!</div>

will result in:

var text = $('#test').ignore("span").text(); // "Hello!!!"
var html = $('#test').ignore("span").html(); // "<b>Hello</b>!!!"
