python - Matplotlib.pyplot make some arrows invisible

I want to draw arrows between coordinates using matplotlib. But some of the connections should not be represented by arrows. Is there a way to deal with that?

Setting the linestyle to 'None' or '' does not work. And changing the linewidth to 0 also does not what I want since the arrows are still shown.

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

ax = plt.axes()
for i in range(3):
    if i == 0:
       ls = 'None'
    else:
       ls = '-'
    ax.arrow(0, 0, 0.5, 0.5, linestyle=ls, head_width=0.05, head_length=0.1)
plt.show()
