NetSuite Dependent Dropdown Sourced From Transaction Item Sublist

Question

I have a custom record with the following dropdown fields sourced from built-in records: -Vendor -Purchase Order -Item

When a Vendor is selected, the list options in the Purchase Order field are filtered by the Vendor selection. After selecting a Purchase Order, how can I filter the list options in the Item field to show only the items on the selected Purchase Order? I've been through the sourcing and filtering options on the field definition in detail but don't see how this is possible.
