asp.net mvc - create search using multiple tables using MVC(Npgsql)

Question

I have simple tables Student table (studid and name) while Employee table (emplid and name)

here I created a search function using 1 table only

    private static IList<Student> ProgramData = null;

    string Name;

    public IList<Student> Searchbox(string Studid)
    {
        ProgramData = new List<Student>();
        dbconn db = new dbconn();
        NpgsqlConnection con = new NpgsqlConnection(db.con_str);
        string q1 = "select * from Student where Studid ='" + Studid + "'";
        try
        {
            con.Open();
            NpgsqlCommand cmd = new NpgsqlCommand(q1, con);
            using (NpgsqlDataReader sdr1 = cmd.ExecuteReader())
            {
                if (sdr1.Read())
                {
                    Name = sdr1["Name"].ToString();
                }
            }
        }
        catch (Exception) { }
        finally
        {
            con.Dispose();
        }
        return ProgramData;
    }

is it possible to extend this function to search the other table for studid? similar to empid can i search for the other table as well? sorry for bad english
