reactjs - Storing an input from a React-Bootstrap Form into a variable

Question

I am trying to get the input typed by the user and store it in js variable to save it to my database.

Here is my React code:

    const download  = () => {
        console.log('download complete')
    };

    return(

            <Form onSubmit={download}>
                <Form.Group id="Symbol">

                </Form.Group>
                <Button className="w-100" type="button" onClick={download}>
                    Download the Data
                </Button>
            </Form>
            <Link to="/">Home page</Link>
        </>
    )
}

I want the data inputted in the Form.Control to be stored in a variable so that I can save it in a database later.
